At our last UDLA meeting were fortune hear from Rick Christensen of Codale Electric Supply.
A few thoughts on lighting
- Purchase good quality lighting and you'll only cry once
- Know who you are buying from
- Make sure that if your going to travel down the energy efficient road that the products you purchase are associated with recognizable efficiency programs for you area. (Rocky Mountain Power accept both Energy wise/ Energy star)
Phase-out of incandescent light bulbs
- The incandescent light bulb, one of the most venerable inventions of its era will be phased off the U.S. market beginning in 2012 under the new energy law. The federal government enacted the Energy Independence and Security Act of 2007 in December 2007, requiring all general-purpose light bulbs that produce 310–2600 lumens of light to be 30% more energy efficient than current incandescent bulbs by 2012 to 2014. The efficiency standards will start with 100-watt bulbs in January 2012 and end with 40-watt bulbs in January 2014.
Have you ever purchased an energy efficient light bulb at your local home depot only to have the color that the light produces just be plain awful. Visit Codale's showroom where you'll be able to see the different colors each type of light produces before you buy and make sure that your color scheme will really look the way you want.
